Much to the dismay of fans 2006′s leading all black member band, The Slack Republic, disbanded in early 2007 before ever releasing their highly anticipated LP, siting creative differences. So it may come as a shock to many of their followers that that several demos from the incomplete concept album are now being released for freeload.

Recorded in the early winter of 2006, The Rise & Fall of the Ottoman Empire contains 9 selections from the final and incomplete works of The Slack Republic. The valiant effort was made to compile these songs into the closest representation of the album that never was. Additionally each track features lyrics and/or some portion of concept album’s narrative. Visit: mecjagger.bandcamp.com for more details.

Pronounced Mu•sē•nə – A Classical Pianist, Composer, Arranger, Producer, Singer/Songwriter, Engineer and much more, Muhsinah has earned each and every title thrown her way. Having landed on the musical radar like a phantom battleship, this Howard University graduate continues to fire her sonic genius, sinking nay-sayers and making a name for herself at a rate some might consider alarming. A Washington D.C. native, turned Brooklyn transplant with a taste for Hollywood? Game over. Abandon ship!

After having his way in the underground dinner party scene of New York for several years, Mr. Fried Chicken finally spun his passion to bridge community, culture, art through music and food, into a 30 minute Variety Show. In the show he films with some of the most innovative artists of our time. As the show’s host, director, conceptual artist and event curator, Dante Fried Chicken wears many hats. Let’s thank our lucky stars one of them is white and poofy. Yum!

Haling from the sunny side of Sunnyside Queens, this Yale graduate delivers on his talents, making good use of his well earned music degree. Arthur’s music, filled with soulful harmonies, dramatic builds, and tender breakdowns, make us fully aware of his coherent versatility. Not many can hold their own when mentioned in the same breathe as D’Angelo, Martin Sexton, Sufjan Stevens, and Prince yet somehow Arthur Lewis holds his own in the company of geniuses.
